Remote Inspections - The Future is Here
A Panel Discussion on the new NFPA 915 Standard and Texas AHJ & Contractor Perspectives

Location Details:
Online meeting - participation details will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.

Program: Although the pandemic has increased interest in remotely viewed virtual inspections, use of this inspection technique may continue long after the pandemic ends.  Remote inspections can significantly increase inspection efficiency, particularly by reducing time lost to travel and traffic delays.  Nevertheless, there are a number of possible pitfalls that can encumber a plan to do remote inspections, and ICC and NFPA have been leading the way in developing guidance for code enforcers, architects, engineers and contractors in this evolving technique.

ICC has published a new Recommended Practices for Remote Virtual Inspections, and in April 2019, NFPA appointed a new technical committee to develop a new Standard on Remote Inspections, NFPA 915. Since August 2019 the NFPA 915 technical committee has held several development meetings to turn the scope approved by the NFPA Standards Council into a document ready for public review.

This program will include a review of the new ICC recommended practice and the current status of the new NFPA 915 standard, including remote inspection methodologies, the types of systems and components proposed to be used, file formats, record collection, and record retention. The make-up of the technical committee and the projected timeline for entry into a revision cycle for NFPA 915 will be discussed.

Additional speakers will cover policies and practices for remote inspections being used by some Texas AHJ's, contractors and engineers.
